Star-Nosed Mole

They told me I am ugly,

not eligible for beauty contest.

I am near blind,

cannot see fanciful dresses,

and all the makeup.

I do not know the rules,

or how they render their judgement.

But when I sniff something rotten,

I hide in my burrows,

plenty of tunnels to reach out,

nothing escapes my touch.

My nose is my north star,

in the water,

on the ground.

Oh! How well I swim!

How fast I bop, grab and devour!

All they compete for is to become a star.

I am already a star.
